Notice of Open, Confessed and Uncorrectable Hypocrisy

I will now, in my own heart, become a hypocrite because others in authority say I should.  I must overlook the continued existence of a justified grudge another believer holds against me and return to ordinary service in the church.  But I will not cover up my hypocrisy.  I hereby declare my hypocrisy openly.

Romans 2:4-5 is a warning aimed not at the wicked world, but at the self-righteous–even believers–who harshly judge others while forgetting that it was the kindness of God that led them to repentance.

How a dream about the word “dirge” led me to recognize two of the major problems of modern Western churches: our insistence on hiding problems to preserve our “witness” rather than dealing with them in the Spirit (hypocrisy) and our one-way, “fact”-intensive teaching style.
