One reason why many people and even some churches really don’t want people to live by the Holy Spirit is this: what is born of the Spirit is unpredictable, like the wind. We often seem to want the people who fit in with our programs, who never take a different path from the group or rock the boat. And we generally prefer to avoid individuals who can trigger the types of violent course correction—paroxysmon—spoken of in Hebrews 10:24. But I am very grateful for the earthquake that was recently delivered to me, gently, and—I imagine—unknowingly by a friend. I don’t want the aftershocks to stop!
