God's people had been ruled by God as their King. But they had forgotten him. Still, Samuel said to them, "And as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you."
And I think I have problems?
God’s people had been ruled by God as their King. But they had forgotten him. They rejected the Lord, and asked their judge, Samuel, to anoint a man to reign as their King. They wanted a King “like all nations,” not God.
Samuel answered them that God would give them the King they wanted. But he warned them strictly that they should not turn away for their King’s sake from following the Lord. Unfortunately, after that, Israel ignored that warning many times, exactly as Samuel told them they would.
Still, Samuel said to them, “And as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you.”
Praying is something I can do in the dark, unnoticed except by the Lord.
